Sakkari won a spot in the WTA race and in her hands qualified for the WTA Finals
Maria Sakkari climbed to 9th place in the WTA Race and now holds qualification for the WTA Finals in her hands.
Maria Sakkari has moved to the bottom of the list leading to the WTA Finals in Fort Worth after her run to the finals of the Parma Ladies Open last week.
The 27-year-old Greek will compete in the coming weeks for her second consecutive participation in the top 8 tournament of the year, which will be held from October 31 to November 7 in Texas, USA.
Sakkari climbed up to 9th in the WTA race and with Simona Halep seeded 8th for the rest of the year due to her recent rhinoplasty, Maria has WTA Finals qualification in her hands.
With the points from Parma, Sakkari reached 2,537 and is 294 points away from 7th place and Daria Kasatkina.
Among her is Greek champion Veronika Kundermetova (2,497), Belinda Bencic (2,306), Paola Bandosa (2,264) and Madison Keys (2,214).
This week Sakkari will compete in the WTA 500 tournament in Ostrava and will have a bye in the first round, while Karolina Pliskova will probably be waiting in the round of 16.
The Czech Republic also feature Bencic, Badosa and Kis, while Kundermetova plays in Tunisia’s weakest 250.
In the WTA rankings, Sakkari stayed at world No. 7 while we had two changes in the top 10 where Kontaveit moved up to 3rd place and Sambalenka to 5th place.
