(Ostrava) Iga Swiatek lost in the final for the first time in three years, while Barbora Krejcikova claimed her second title in as many weeks with victory at the Omnium Agel on Sunday.
Home favorite Krejcikova came from behind to win the match in straight sets 5-7, 7-6(4), 6-3.
Krejcikova scored her seventh ace of the day to end the debate on her sixth match point. The Czech got the better of her opponent in three hours and 16 minutes on the hard court in Ostrava.
It was her first triumph against Swiatek, the best player in the world, after two losses.

Swiatek had not lost in their last 10 matches while Krejcikova had not lost in their last eight outings after securing the title in Tallinn last weekend.

The Czech recorded the decisive break in the eighth game of the last set. She then served for the match to win a fifth career tournament.
It was only Swiatek’s second loss in 12 career finals. Polona Hercog beat her in Lugano in 2019.
Following her semi-final win over Ekaterina Alexandrova on Saturday, Swiatek became the first WTA player since 2017 to score 60 wins in a calendar year.
