Tsitsipas: “My goal was to be the boss on the pitch, I dream of the title”
Stefanos Tsitsipas, who suffered a setback but with a big surprise defeated Andrey Rublev 2-1 to advance to the Astana Open final, stressed that he already dreams of winning the title.
Stefanos Tsitsipas made an incredibly mature performance despite being down on points, causing the upset, winning 2-1 (4-6, 6-4, 6-3) set from Rublev and qualifying for Astana Open final , where he will meet Novak Djokovic (at the earliest at 1:30 p.m.).
After the final of the big victory, the Greek champion claimed that he fought a big and difficult fight against the Russian tennis player and that now he dreams of winning the title.
“I tried everything today. I was in control and I was able to keep it in the crucial places. I had a lot of variety in my game and I tried to follow my strategy to the end. I worked on a lot of things during the match and I wanted to make recordings with a lot of passion.
It wasn’t easy at all to get back in the sets and compete against such a strong opponent. It was a big physical and mental battle and I fought for every point. I think I was determined.
My goal was to be the boss on the pitch today and play more aggressively. I was absolutely confident in every decision I made at the crucial points and played well. I really want my first ATP 500 title. I dream of him.”

The Russian-Kazakh duo Andrey Rublev/Elena Rybakina beat the representative of Monaco, Valentin Vachereau and Iga Szwiatek from Poland in the World Tennis Continental Cup match, which takes place in Shenzhen (China).
