Yastremskaya comments on her first victory since June
Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremskaya He commented on the long-awaited victory after eight defeats in the WTA tour.
At the WTA 250 tournament in Romania today, Dayana lost match points against Tamara Korpacz in the first round.
“It was my first victory in the last eight tournaments. Of course I’m very happy and to be honest I didn’t even realize my opponent had two match points. I was lost during the match, couldn’t follow the score and maybe this helped me.
It’s good to play here, I love this court. But it was difficult to play because I read the morning news, more than 90 missiles were fired at us today. What is happening now is terrible. I added negative emotions after watching the news, it was very difficult to adapt to the match. But I went out on the field and tried to show my best.
When the war started, my sister and I fled from Ukraine to Romania, where we were well received. “We have received so much support from the people of your country that I am grateful to you,” Yastremska said.
In the next round, Yastremska will face Jasmine Paolini from Italy or Marta Kostyuk from Ukraine.
