Roland Garros semi-finalist in 1989, winner of two Masters series tournaments Andrei Chesnokov called the victory of Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev over Austrian Dominic Thiem in the semi-finals of the tennis tournament in Gijón good.
Rublev beat Tim with a score of 6:4, 6:4. The meeting lasted 1 hour 36 minutes.
– If we talk about Tim, he did not play for a year. And he himself said that his return could not be in a second. Dominic beat good players on the way to the semifinals. Now Tim’s level is not the level when he was in the top ten. But even then, Rublev still beat him. Andriy is now in good shape, playing fast enough, unexpectedly, and Dominik, after his injury, is not quite ready to play against such opponents.
Of course, this is a good victory for Rublev and a good result for Tim. Dominik looks much more stable now, he is gradually returning to tennis. The game today was quite intriguing and equal. A little bit, Rublev looked better, because he was not injured, he was in trend and form. But I would not say that everything was so simple for Andrey. If Tim gets in shape, then it will be more difficult for the whole top ten and the same Rublev to beat him, – Chesnokov told the Championship.
In the final, the Russian will meet with Sebastian Korda (USA).
