Chesnokov compared Rublev with Agassi after winning the tournament in Spanish Gijon
Two-time Davis Cup finalist Andrey Chesnokov appreciated the performance of Russian Andrey Rublev at the tournament in Gijon.
Rublev became the winner of the tournament, beating the American Sebastian Korda in the final match with a score of 6:2, 6:3.
– Rublev plays amazingly, he beat Korda quite easily. He couldn’t keep up with the pace. As Agassi once played – the ball bounces, and immediately there is a retaliatory strike. Sometimes a player plays, the ball bounces, rises. It’s like ping pong here. Players play from half-flight. Rublev pressed the pace, but Korda did not have time. So this is the account. Comfortably won. Rublev played the most difficult match against Ivashko – a difficult psychological moment passed and revealed himself during the tournament. Now he is in the semi-finals and in the final flying around the court, – Chesnokov is quoted by the “Championship”.
