Tsitsipas – Kresi 2: 0: Stefanos qualified for the third round of Stockholm
Stefanos Tsitsipas needed two tiebreaks to overcome Maxim Cressi’s resistance and qualify for the third round of the Stockholm tournament.
Stefanos Tsitsipas qualified for the third round of the Stockholm tournament. The Greek tennis player patiently coped with Maxim Kressi’s special tennis and won in two tie-breaks.
Stefanos Tsitsipas was cool in the crucial points, he managed the difficult conditions of a tiebreak in the best possible way and is now waiting to find out his opponent in the third round.
There he awaits his next opponent, which will emerge from the clash between defending champion Tommy Paul (No. 31) and the in-form Michael Immer (No. 79) in recent weeks.
The match: The match began with both athletes holding their serves loosely. All of this up until game five when Cressi managed to break Tsitsipas’ serve and then held his own at 4-2.
The Greek tennis player’s response was immediate and with three games won he managed to take a 5-4 lead and level the set. Then we didn’t have a break anymore and that’s how we got into the tie-break.
There Tsitsipas took a 5-0 lead, Kresi reacted with a partial 3-0 and shortened to 5-3. Steph withstood the American’s pressure and finished the set 7:6 (5).
In the second set, the two tennis players held their serve without any problems and so we were led back into the tie-break. There we had a real fight between the two tennis players.
For Tsitsipas to close the set and the match, the two had to play 26 points until Stefanos won the set 7-6 (12).
