Tsitsipas – De Minor 2-0: Unstoppable Stefanos qualified for the semi-finals of the Rotterdam Open
Stefanos Tsitsipas qualified for the semi-finals of the Rotterdam Open after beating Australia’s Alex De Minor 2-0 in the tournament in the Netherlands. Against Czech Republic Giri Lechetska in the semifinals.
Stefanos Tsitsipas won with a 2-0 set (6: 4, 6: 4) against Alex De Minor (No. 34) and reached the semi-finals of the Rotterdam Open in the Netherlands in 91 minutes. The Greek is fully focused on his goal and despite struggling in both sets, he upped his pace and scored 7/7 against the Australian in the matches between them on the Tour.
De Minor made several effortless mistakes, giving Tsitsipas the right to control the game, try things and eventually celebrate winning qualification in the semi-finals of the tournament. The next opponent for the Greek champions will be 20-year-old Czech Giri Lechetska, who defeated Italy’s Mouzeti 2-1.
The race
De Minor was in the mood to put pressure on the Greek champions from the start. By the middle of the first set, the two held serve in a high-paced, high-demand match. Tsitsipas didn’t have it easy in the opening games as he even struggled to hold at love against the hard-fought Australian.
The break for the Greek came in the fifth game of the set, where he took full advantage of his opponent’s mistakes and took the lead. Stefanos kept his serve in the other games and that was enough to take the first set 6-4.
In the second set, Tsitsipas started perfectly, grabbing a break and looking able to end the qualifying case early. His No. 1 found strength from his backhand, earning valuable points that came 3-0 after a second straight break in service from De Minor.
The reaction came from De Minor, who upped the pace, showed he could play tennis and squeezed Tsitsipas. However, Stefanos, whose serve was his big weapon, withstood the pressure to finish the second set 6-4 and qualify.
