Tsitsipas ‘Sifunas’ against Imer and reached the semifinals of the Stockholm Open
Stefanos Tsitsipas (No. 5) beat Mikael Imer (No. 79) 2-0 in a set to easily qualify for the semi-finals of the Stockholm Open.
The perfect record in Stockholm was held by Stefanos Tsitsipas (No.5), who struggled to finish the first set of the match against Mikael Imer (No.79) but eventually clinched a straight-set win over the Swede and settled for it Ticket secured for semi-finals of ATP 500 event.
The No. 1 in the table, who comes with a wildcard to the tournament milestone of his career when he celebrated his first title in 2018, prevailed 7-5, 6-3 against his opponent and is waiting for the winner of the last quarter. This was Stefanos’ 55th win of the season and 5th against Mikael Imer in as many games.
In the middle of the opening sentence, Tsitsipas briefly lost his composure and lost his early lead with a break. The 24-year-old missed the serve to take the lead when the score was 5:4, but made it 1-0 with another break in the 11th game (6:5) and a successful hold.
In the 2nd set, Tsitsipas controlled the match and the rallies from the baseline, while in the 2nd game he was able to hold the break (2-0) to the end without coming under pressure with his serve.
