Simona HALEP: “Doping? I never thought of cheating.”
Former world number one Simona Halep commented on her suspension from tennis due to a positive doping test:
“Today began the hardest struggle of my life: the fight for truth. I was told that I had tested positive for an extremely small amount of a banned drug, which was the biggest shock.
I’ve never considered cheating in my entire career, it’s totally against the values I was raised on. Being in such an unfair situation makes me feel betrayed and cornered.
I will fight to the end to prove that I have never knowingly used illegal substances. And I believe that sooner or later the truth will come out.
It’s not about title or money. It’s a matter of honor, a love story I’ve created by playing tennis for the past 25 years.”
