Tsitsipas – Roussuvouori 2-0: Stefanos was incredible, he left “air” in the Stockholm Open final
Stefanos Tsitsipas was sensational against Finland’s Rusuvuori as he advanced 2-0 sets (6-2, 6-2) to the final of the Stockholm Open, where he will meet Denmark’s Holger Rune.
Stefanos Tsitsipas continued his positive tradition at the Stockholm Open (250th tournament in ATP ranking) when he defeated Emil Rusuvuori (No. 52 in ATP ranking) in 2-0 sets (6-2) and qualified for the final qualified Swedish tournament, where he will win his second title in this institution.
His opponent will be Holger Rune (No. 27 in the world), who defeated Alex De Minor in the first semi-final of the event today. The Greek tennis player qualified for the 24th ATP Finals of his career.
This will be Tsitsipas’ 7th appearance in an ATP event final in 2022 while he has a 2-4 record so far (9-14 on aggregate).
The match
After his early elimination in the 1st round of the US Open, Stefanos seems to have found an excellent rhythm as he achieves high levels of performance in his last few matches and Roussouvouri finally finds the momentum of the 24-year-old Ancient Greek.
The world No. 5 tennis player won 10 of the last 12 matches of the semifinals and didn’t give his opponent the slightest advantage, turning the 2-2 into a 6-2, 6-2 pass within 75 minutes.
He hit 15 winners and the winner committed just seven unforced errors to achieve the win with 5/8 break point opportunities. The 24-year-old Finn managed an early break (2-2) but was lost on the pitch from then on.
Excellent serve, correct decisions and nice aggressive tennis from Tsitsipas, who continues this week with his backhand and has been in excellent form, taking a lot of solutions from this side.
So far, the table no. 1 didn’t lose a set in the tournament and have a 6-0 winning streak, now he’s looking for revenge with Holger Rohn for his defeat against the Dane in the 4th round of this year’s Roland Garros.
This is also the only time the two have met on the tour as rivals. However, Tsitsipas and Run are friends and will compete together in the doubles table at the Paris Masters.
