Tsitsipas – Rune 0-2: The amazing Dane stripped Stefanos of his 10th title
Stefanos Tsitsipas (No. 5) did not have his best day and lost 0-2 (6-4, 6-4) to Holger Rune (No. 27), the winner of the Stockholm 250 tournament. The Greek champions stayed at nine titles.
Holger Rune (No. 27) put on a stunning performance while Stefanos Tsitsipas (No. 5) moved in the shallows in the Stockholm Open final.
The Dane prevailed 2-0 (6:4, 6:4) and denied the Greek champions the opportunity to celebrate their 10th title. Rooney clinched his second title this year and will clearly move up the rankings. At the same time, this is the fifth lost final for Tsitsipas in 2022.
Stefanos’ opponent started the game strongly and made the early break to make it 2-1. Tsitsipas had no solution to the Dane’s powerful punches, who also had a “weapon” of his backhand. The Greek champions found no answer and Roone took the first set.
In the second set, the Dane continued the same way and made the break again in the third game. Tsitsipas made sure to add things to his game to make a comeback. However, he failed to ‘break’ Rune’s break and was thus defeated, with the second set also ending 6-4.
