Sakkari’s excellent week in Guadalajara may not have ended on the best note, but she is leaving Mexico with the best of feelings as she prepares for the WTA Finals in Fort Worth.

Maria Sakkari’s excellent week in Guadalajara may not have ended on the best note, but the Greek tennis player is leaving Mexico with the best of feelings.

After all, her primary goal was achieved after our 27-year-old champion secured 8th and last place at the WTA Finals in Fort Worth (10/31-11/07) and will therefore compete in the top 8 tournaments of the year for the second year in a row.

Sakkari will have a chance to defend the 600 points she scored at last year’s WTA Finals in Guadalajara by reaching the semifinals in her first appearance at the event.

“A week full of emotions and a lot of positives that will help me to go to the next one. Guadalajara, you are amazing. Thanks for everything.” Sakkari wrote on Facebook on Tuesday that she was traveling to Texas.
