That United Cup is a mixed national team doubles tournament created by the ATP and WTA and will feature 18 teams in three different Australian cities. This is undoubtedly a historic moment for world tennis as it will be the first time that a tournament will be held in collaboration between ATP and WTA since the… similar Hopman Cup (1989-2019) was organized by the International Tennis Federation (ITF). . .

As per tournament rules, the top 6 in the ATP and WTA rankings will be the first 12 teams to qualify directly for the first-ever United Cup. That means Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari (barring a shocking contingency) should be considered within the 12 teams.

The next 6 teams (18 total) will be determined based on the best combined ATP and WTA rankings. The deadline for teams to confirm their participation is November 7th, the draw will take place on December 10th, while the tournament will take place between December 29th and January 8th, 2023, and each team will be allowed up to 4 men and 4 women women have .

The 11-day tournament will be played in Brisbane (Pat Rafter Arena), Perth (RAC Arena) and Sydney (Ken Roswell Arena). Each city will host two groups of the three country teams using a round-robin system (everyone plays against everyone else), while each tie will consist of 5 games, two men’s singles, two women’s singles and one mixed doubles.

Since the first United Cup, Russia and Belarus are not allowed to participate due to the war situation in Ukraine.

There they play against each other, with the 3 semi-finalists emerging from the playoffs along with the best loser (based on the results).   • Australia will qualify directly for the tournament, either through placement or through a wild card (wc).
  • Russia and Belarus will be eliminated from the United Cup due to the war situation in Ukraine.
