In the early morning hours of Saturday (October 29th) Greek time, Maria Sakkari (No. 4 in the world) got to know her opponents in the first phase of the WTA Finals, which will be held in Texas between October 31st and November 7th.
As has been announced, the Greek champion has been drawn into the second group (Nancy Richey) along with Ons Zambe, Jessica Pegula and Arina Sabalenka. In the first group (Tracy Austin) they were found Iga Sfiodek (considered a favorite), Coco Goff, Caroline Garcia and Daria Kasatkina.
It is recalled that the games will be played at Dickies Arena, a 14,000-seat stadium. Based on the system, the group stage will follow round robin logic and the top two players in each group will qualify for the semi-finals. Last season, Sakkari reached the semifinals of the WTA Finals.
