VIDEO. Murray did not shake hands with the judge at the Masters in Paris. What happened?
old world number one Andy Murray (Great Britain, ATP 48) After the 1/32 final match of the Masters in Paris (France) Gilles Simon (France, ATP 188) did not shake hands with the referee.
Murray lost the game with scores of 6:4, 5:7, 3:6. Meanwhile, Andy didn’t appeal in his favor at 5:3 in the second set.
The legendary tennis player was angry that the referee could not convince the audience.
In one of the episodes, Murray wanted to summon the supervisor to court because the referee could not calm the noisy spectators. He didn’t.
“If you don’t do something, I won’t play,” Murray said.
“Your choice,” replied the judge.
Note that Gilles Simon hosted the last tournament in his career. Therefore, a huge crowd of fans gathered for this match, which throughout the entire meeting did not cease to stubbornly support the French.
Murray asked the supervisor to attend court to ask him to stop the crowd’s distractions, but the referee did nothing. “I’ll stop playing if you don’t do something,” Murray said. “It’s your choice,” replied referee Fergus Murphy. There is no inspector.
