Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Corentin Mute 2-0 in the head-to-head match for the third round of the Paris Masters and qualified for the quarter-finals of the tournament.

Stefanos Tsitsipas didn’t lose a set against Corentin Mouté either, he managed to keep his composure in the critical moments of the game and beat the Frenchman to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Paris Masters.

The Greek champions didn’t even come before a break point from world No. 64 and ‘ended’ the match impressively in the challenging tie-break of the 2nd set, earning the winning goal for the second time in his career to enter the last ‘8’ the institution.

After 100 minutes of fighting, No. 5 prevailed on the board 6-3, 7-6 (3) and now he’s waiting for Pablo Carreno Busta’s match with Tommy Paul to find out his next opponent in the tournament.

Tsitsipas won seven of the last eight points of the game, coming back from 0-2 in the tie break and avoiding a third set against Mute, capitalizing on his mature decisions in the crucial moments of the game.

His serve was in excellent form throughout, hitting 30/33 backhand wins and 17/25 backhand wins and never letting the Frenchman become a setter on the court.

Even when the 23-year-old upped the pace from the middle of the 2nd set, Stefanos had the answers and showed his quality whenever it was needed, beating him for the 2nd time in the same number of matches.

The Greek tennis player’s only black point was the five missed break point chances in the match. He finished the match at 1/6 and lost three straight games in game 3 of set 2 when he failed to “break” Mute’s serve despite leading 0-40.

Overall, Tsitsipas finished the match with 24 wins and eight unforced errors while forcing the Frenchman to just 12/23 points won behind his…vulnerable second serve.

* In the day’s other match, Novak Djokovic defeated Karen Khachanov 6-4, 6-1 to secure his ticket to the “8” of the tournament, where he meets Lorenzo Musetti on Friday (4/11).
