The Dubai tournament without Sakkari and Condaveit
Maria Sakkari and Annette Contaveit have withdrawn from the Dubai tournament. You will return to the tour in Doha.
The full week they had in St. Petersburg prompted Maria Sakkari and Annette Condaveit to withdraw their participation in the Dubai tournament.
In fact, this development brought relative confusion to the tournament draw as we had the necessary roster changes.
The WTA initially announced that only Sakkari would not compete due to a date change, but eventually Estonia did as well.
Thus, Sakkari’s place has been taken by Daniel Collins, originally scheduled to play with Muguruta, and the Spaniard will play with an athlete from the qualifiers, while Contaveit’s place will be taken by another athlete from the qualifiers.
The two athletes are expected to compete normally after a week’s break in Doha and then fly to the United States where they will compete in Indian Wells.
