No one suspected. Sventek advances to semifinals in WTA Finals
World No. 1 Iga Swiatek (Poland, WTA 1) defeated Caroline Garcia (France, WTA 6) in two sets in the second round of the WTA Finals group stage to qualify for the tournament’s play-offs.
The Polish tennis player took his third win in the fifth match of the WTA Finals. Caroline will need to win the third game of the group to reach the semi-finals.
Daria Kasatkina (WTA 8) managed to cope with Corey Gauff (USA, WTA 4) in two sets. The match ended in 1 hour 43 minutes. In the first set, Corey lost 4-1 and 3-0 in the tie-break.
After two defeats in the group (he lost to Garcia in the first round), Gauff snatched his chance at the semi-finals of the tournament. Daria Kasatkina and Carolyn Garcia will compete for the playoff ticket in the third round of the Tracy Austin group.
