Halep doping investigation completed. The tennis player has 20 days to contest the charge or plead guilty.

The investigation into the doping case of ex-first racket of the world Simona Halep is completed. This was stated by the representative of the independent agency for the resolution of sports disputes Sport Resolutions Paul Chukur.
Previously, analysis of the B sample of a 31-year-old Romanian athlete confirmed the result of the A sample from the US Open‑2022, in which Roxadastat, a drug banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), was found. Halep said that she intends to fight for the truth, and denied allegations of doping.
At the same time, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) suspended Halep from the competition.
– The allegation of doping was brought to the attention of Halep. The investigation phase has been completed. From now on, Simona has 20 days at her disposal to either challenge the indictment, or conclude, there is such a possibility, a plea agreement that will reduce the period of her suspension from 4 years, which is the standard sanction, to 3 years, TVR quotes Chukura .
Halep is currently ranked tenth in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings.
