(Paris) Crowned at the Masters, the French Caroline Garcia climbed two ranks to end the season in fourth place in the WTA ranking published on Tuesday and still largely dominated by the Polish Iga Swiatek.

Swiatek, beaten in the semi-finals of the Masters by Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, still has twice as many points as her runner-up, Tunisian Ons Jabeur, and has even strengthened her lead over the latter and the American Jessica Pegula, 3e.

This is the first season completed in the rank of world No.1 by Swiatek, who succeeds the Australian Ashleigh Barty (2019, 2020 and 2021), who retired last March at the age of 25.

Thanks to her success in the Masters final in Fort Worth (Texas) against Sabalenka, Garcia became the second French player to win the Masters after Amélie Mauresmo in 2005.

Like Sabalenka, now 5eGarcia gained two places in front of the Greek Maria Sakkari, 6eand American Cori Gauff, 7e.

At the same time, she equals the best ranking of her career, already achieved for the first time in September 2018.

In the rest of top 20the Swiss Belinda Bencic took the 12e place at the expense of the Spaniard Paula Badosa.
