Nadal and Tsitsipas claim number 1 in Turin
Following Carlos Alcarat’s withdrawal from his first ATP Finals, Rafael Nadal and Stefanos Tsitsipas have a chance to claim their rise to the year-end world No.1 rankings.
THE Carlos Alcarathwho has worked wonders this season, culminating in his first Grand Slam title at the US Open, injured himself in the quarterfinals in Paris against Holger Rooney and has been sidelined for six weeks with abdominal problems on his left side.
Following the 19-year-old Spaniard’s withdrawal from his first ATP Finals, Rafael Nadal and Stefanos Tsitsipas have a chance to maintain their year-end rise to world No. 1.
So Nadal, who is 1000 points away in the ATP live ranking, needs three group stage wins (200 points/win) and one semi-final win (400 points) to overtake Alcarath at the top of the ATP rankings.
The Greek champions are 1,470 points away from 1st place and the only scenario where they want to finish 1st is to win the ATP Finals unbeaten.
Alcarath ended his fantastic year with a 57-13 record and five titles, including two Masters (Miami, Madrid) and a Grand Slam. On September 12, he became the youngest tennis player in history to reach No. 1 in the ATP rankings.
Taylor Fritz will take the Spaniard’s place at the ATP Finals (November 13-20).

Four Ukrainian tennis players were included in the doubles entry list Australian Open 2025.
Ukrainian women will play in the doubles tournament on the courts of Melbourne: Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremskaya, Lyudmila Kichenok and Nadezhda Kichenok. Unfortunately, there will be no all-Ukrainian tandem in Australia.
Kostyuk will perform alongside Elena-Gabriela Ruse at the Aus Open, and Yastremskaya will play alongside Alisha Parks.
Lyudmila and Nadezhda will not play together at AO-2026, although they will start the season with the same duet in the Brisbane 500 meters. It was announced that Lyudmila will be with Katie Volynets, and Nadezhda will be with Makoto Ninomiya.
Australian Open 2026 will take place from January 12 to February 1. Elina Svitolina, Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremskaya and Alexandra Oleynikova will represent Ukraine in singles. Yulia Starodubtseva, Angelina Kalinina, Daria Snigur and Vitaly Sachko will perform in the eliminations.

Russian Karen Khachanov moved from 18th to 17th place in the ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), a new version of which was published on the organization’s website.
The best among Russians remains Daniil Medvedev, located in 13th place, Andrei Rublev is 16th. There have been no changes in the top ten rankings: Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz is in the lead, Italian Jannik Sinner is second, and German representative Alexander Zverev is in third.
