Sakkari: The big cash prize she left the WTA Finals with
Maria Sakkari ended her run at the WTA Finals in the semifinals but left Texas with a hefty cash prize in her pocket.
Maria Sakkari’s run at the WTA Finals ended after her loss to Caroline Garcia in the semifinals. However, she left Texas with a large prize money in her luggage.
The money is calculated differently in the WTA Finals than in other tournaments, as the system is also different.
Each athlete receives 110,000 euros as a participation bonus, while each athlete receives the same amount as a victory bonus for each of their victories in the group phase.
Maria Sakkari secured 440,000 euros from the first part of the tournament alone. Her presence in the semifinals earned her another €30,000, such was her total prize 470,000 euros.
On the other hand, Caroline Garcia secured €860,000 and if she wins the trophy she can claim even more 820,000 euros.

Four Ukrainian tennis players were included in the doubles entry list Australian Open 2025.
Ukrainian women will play in the doubles tournament on the courts of Melbourne: Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremskaya, Lyudmila Kichenok and Nadezhda Kichenok. Unfortunately, there will be no all-Ukrainian tandem in Australia.
Kostyuk will perform alongside Elena-Gabriela Ruse at the Aus Open, and Yastremskaya will play alongside Alisha Parks.
Lyudmila and Nadezhda will not play together at AO-2026, although they will start the season with the same duet in the Brisbane 500 meters. It was announced that Lyudmila will be with Katie Volynets, and Nadezhda will be with Makoto Ninomiya.
Australian Open 2026 will take place from January 12 to February 1. Elina Svitolina, Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremskaya and Alexandra Oleynikova will represent Ukraine in singles. Yulia Starodubtseva, Angelina Kalinina, Daria Snigur and Vitaly Sachko will perform in the eliminations.

Russian Karen Khachanov moved from 18th to 17th place in the ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), a new version of which was published on the organization’s website.
The best among Russians remains Daniil Medvedev, located in 13th place, Andrei Rublev is 16th. There have been no changes in the top ten rankings: Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz is in the lead, Italian Jannik Sinner is second, and German representative Alexander Zverev is in third.
