Tsitsipas: Looking for a counterattack in Marseille

Stefanos Tsitsipas leaves behind the lost final of Rotterdam and is now preparing to fight for the Marseille tournament.

After his disappointing performance in the final of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament and losing to Felix Ozer-Aliasim, Stefanos Tsitsipas travels to France where he will take part in his favorite Open 13 in Marseille.

The 23-year-old Greek champion, a two-time champion of the indoor event in the south of France (2019-20), will be taking part in the tournament for the sixth straight year, in which he has a 9-3 record.

According to the draw that took place on Saturday, Tsitsipas takes first place and has a bye in the 1st round of the tournament. In the “16” phase, he waits for the victor of the French civil war between Hugo Gaston and Corentin Mute.

In the quarter-finals, he crosses paths with tournament No. 7 Alexander Bublik, although it’s not impossible that he’ll meet Aliasim again, who is also at the top of the board and is in excellent form.

This will be Tsitsipas’ fourth tournament of 2022 after missing out on the ATP Cup, his Australian Open semi-final appearance and his recent Rotterdam final defeat.

It remains to be seen whether he will meet his father and coach Apostolos in Marseille, who has not traveled to Rotterdam. Tsitsipas added Thomas Inquist to his coaching staff.
