Sakkari reached 40 wins, setting a record for 2022
2022 is the year of Maria Sakkari who, despite not winning a title, has a record number of wins with 40 wins.
Maria Sakkari’s (No.6) year may not have had a Grand Slam semi-final like last year or a title, but the Greek tennis player recorded the most wins of her career in one season.
With her three wins in Texas, the 27-year-old reached 40, two more than last year, but also with two more losses, which did not allow her to achieve the best percentage of wins from last year.
It should be noted that last year’s record of Sakkaris was 38-20 in 58 games (65.5%), while 2022 ended with a 40-22 in 62 games (54.5%) for the Greek tennis player.
This record is the ninth best on the tour, with Iga Sfiondek of course also leading in this category with 65 wins compared to 46 for Ons Zambert, while third on the relevant list is Beatriz Haddad Maia of Brazil with 44 wins.
