Sakkari reached 40 wins, setting a record for 2022

2022 is the year of Maria Sakkari who, despite not winning a title, has a record number of wins with 40 wins.

Maria Sakkari’s (No.6) year may not have had a Grand Slam semi-final like last year or a title, but the Greek tennis player recorded the most wins of her career in one season.

With her three wins in Texas, the 27-year-old reached 40, two more than last year, but also with two more losses, which did not allow her to achieve the best percentage of wins from last year.

It should be noted that last year’s record of Sakkaris was 38-20 in 58 games (65.5%), while 2022 ended with a 40-22 in 62 games (54.5%) for the Greek tennis player.

This record is the ninth best on the tour, with Iga Sfiondek of course also leading in this category with 65 wins compared to 46 for Ons Zambert, while third on the relevant list is Beatriz Haddad Maia of Brazil with 44 wins.

Four Ukrainian women will play doubles at the Australian Open 2026

Four Ukrainian tennis players were included in the doubles entry list Australian Open 2025.

Ukrainian women will play in the doubles tournament on the courts of Melbourne: Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremskaya, Lyudmila Kichenok and Nadezhda Kichenok. Unfortunately, there will be no all-Ukrainian tandem in Australia.

Kostyuk will perform alongside Elena-Gabriela Ruse at the Aus Open, and Yastremskaya will play alongside Alisha Parks.

Lyudmila and Nadezhda will not play together at AO-2026, although they will start the season with the same duet in the Brisbane 500 meters. It was announced that Lyudmila will be with Katie Volynets, and Nadezhda will be with Makoto Ninomiya.

Australian Open 2026 will take place from January 12 to February 1. Elina Svitolina, Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremskaya and Alexandra Oleynikova will represent Ukraine in singles. Yulia Starodubtseva, Angelina Kalinina, Daria Snigur and Vitaly Sachko will perform in the eliminations.

Khachanov moved up one place in the ATP rankings

Russian Karen Khachanov moved from 18th to 17th place in the ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), a new version of which was published on the organization’s website.

The best among Russians remains Daniil Medvedev, located in 13th place, Andrei Rublev is 16th. There have been no changes in the top ten rankings: Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz is in the lead, Italian Jannik Sinner is second, and German representative Alexander Zverev is in third.
