The countdown to the ATP Finals has come to an end and we now know the groups in which the eight tennis players who will be in Turin during the November 13-20.
Beyond the prestige of tournament victory, there is still an open battle for world number one. Carlos Alcarat’s absence from the ATP Finals left first place in the hands of Rafael Nadal and Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Given the data, the 19-year-old Spaniard leads by a 1000-point difference but as you’ll see below, both Rafa and the 24-year-old Greek have their own chances.

The four scenarios and the possible match for No. 1
Carlos Alcarath won’t compete in Turin, so Rafael Nadal and Stefanos Tsitsipas have a chance to end the year at the top of the world rankings, with the Spaniard having a better chance of achieving that.
The one scenario that exists brings us to a possible trap. Since the two tennis players will initially play in different groups, the scenario is different. May they both reach the finals. There, the winner rises to number 1 in the world rankings.

- Nadal will be number 1 if he wins the tournament.
- Nadal will be No. 1 if he reaches the final with a 3-0 record in group games
- Tsitsipas will be number 1 if he wins the tournament unbeaten.
