DJOKOVIC – About participation in the Australian Open: “No official news. We are waiting”

21-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic After defeating Tsitsipas in the ATP Finals, he held a big press conference:

How hard is it to be a part-time superstar? You play for part of the year, then you don’t play for very long, and then you come back at a pretty high level.

– I can say that this year was different from the other seasons I spent on the Tour. Conditions were very unpredictable and unusual, especially in the first few months. It was difficult to find the balance and play my best tennis with what was off the court after Australia.

But at the end of the clay season, I think I played at the level I needed, the way I wanted. Wimbledon has been very important to me and has always appeared at the right time throughout my career. Of course, it was a successful tournament and I became the champion. It was a huge relief, but it was also a huge confidence boost.

It seems to me that I’ve played every tournament since Wimbledon at high level. I won two trophies and played the final in the third tournament. I started this Final Tournament well.

All the players here said that every match is a final and to tell the truth there is no clear favorite here. You need to show a strong game from the very beginning. I made it today.

– A few weeks ago, you told a Serbian journalist that your lawyers are working with the Australian authorities to find out if you can go there. Do you know?

No, there is no official news yet. We are waiting. They communicate with the Australian government. That’s all I can say for now.

It was previously learned that Djokovic will lift the entry ban. So far, this has not been officially announced.
