Olympic champion in doubles Elena Vesnina believes that Andrei Rublev was unnecessarily nervous in the group stage match of the final tournament of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) against Serb Novak Djokovic.
On Wednesday, Djokovic beat Rublev 6:4, 6:1 and advanced to the semi-finals of the tournament ahead of schedule.
– Andrei failed to catch on and provide proper resistance. But Novak was very good. He made no mistakes, no mistakes. Djokovic was focused from the start. From the first games, it was clear that Novak came to win and did not intend to give anything away. It’s a shame Andrew didn’t make it. He was unnecessarily nervous, but this is understandable: the final tournament and the match with the best of the best, – quotes the words of Vesnina “Championship”.
In two days, the 35-year-old Serb will meet with the Russian Daniil Medvedev, Rublev will play against the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas.
