WTA announces pre-competition schedule for 2023
The WTA has released the tournament schedule for the 2023 season leading up to the US Open.
The new season will start with the tournament United Cup A new combined team event in Australia, featuring men and women competing in Brisbane, Perth and Sydney in partnership with Tennis Australia and the ATP.
Parallel to the start of the season, Adelaide (WTA 500) and Auckland (WTA 250) will host the Australian Open qualifying tournaments.
In February, new WTA 250 tournaments will be played in Austin (Texas, USA) and Merida (Mexico). st. Petersburg there are no traditional competitions.
WTA 1000 tournaments will be held in Dubai, Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, Rome, Montreal and Cincinnati. There will also be at least 10 WTA 500 events and 24 WTA 250 events played, as well as an expansion of the WTA 125 calendar.
“As the WTA celebrates its 50th anniversary, the 2023 calendar shows the incredible breadth and reach of women’s tennis,” said Steve Simon, WTA CEO.
