Wimbledon stripped Djokovic of No2
Novak Djokovic’s triumph at the ATP Finals would have put him second in the world rankings if his points won at Wimbledon counted.
Novak Djokovic is the big winner of this year’s ATP Finals but also this season’s big loser based on the Wimbledon boycott and not counting the ATP points he gained in London over these two weeks.
The Serb was crowned champion at the All England Club last summer and should – under normal circumstances – have added 2,000 ATP points to his tally.
However, after the ATP’s decision not to count the points of this year’s event due to the Russians’ exclusion from the event, there were quite a few tennis players who felt very lost by this development.
One of them, and arguably the most damaged, was Nole, who defeated Nick Kyrgios in the final to win his 21st Grand Slam title but failed to significantly improve his position in the ATP table despite his excellent run.
After also winning the ATP Finals, Djokovic secured his return to the top five in the world rankings. But where would he have been if the 2,000 ATP Wimbledon points were being counted? He would be second only to Alkarath.
Big loser and Nick Kyrgios who is not currently ranked 10th but is outside the top 20. Stefanos Tsitsipas would also lose a position.

Russian Karen Khachanov moved from 18th to 17th place in the ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), a new version of which was published on the organization’s website.
The best among Russians remains Daniil Medvedev, located in 13th place, Andrei Rublev is 16th. There have been no changes in the top ten rankings: Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz is in the lead, Italian Jannik Sinner is second, and German representative Alexander Zverev is in third.
