Players from Russia and Belarus may be admitted to Wimbledon next year
The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club is considering lifting the ban on tennis players from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus at Wimbledon.
At the moment, the decision on who will be invited to Wimbledon next summer has yet to be made. However, the source is confident that the club is not too keen on waging a fierce battle with the rest of the tennis world, which does not support this decision.
It was previously reported that ATP fined the British Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) $1 million in July, in addition to a $750,000 fine from the WTA. Organizations are also threatened with expulsion from the ATP.
Wimbledon was played without rating points this year, as the expulsion of tennis players from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus is considered a discriminatory ban.
