Sakkari draws Qatar tournament
Maria Sakkari returns to competition and takes part in the WTA 1000 tournament in Qatar. The number 8 in the world rankings, who passed in the first round, is waiting for the winner of the match between Sofia Kenin and Ann Lee.
After competing in the St. Petersburg final and retiring from Dubai this week, Maria Sakkari is back in action competing in the WTA 1000 tournament in Qatar.
The top Greek tennis player, after rest and intense training, traveled to Doha where she ranks No. 6 on the board and bows out in the 1st round of the very important event.
The No. 8 in the world rankings is waiting in the second round for the winner of the civil dispute between the two Americans Sofia Kenin and Ann Lee.
If Kenin passes, it will be a very strong test for Sakkari as the 23-year-old American is the 2020 Australian Open champion and Roland Garros finalist in the same year. Of course, its current situation isn’t the same as it has fallen to No. 90 in the world.
In the 3rd round, Maria crosses with 9-Jessica Pegoula, while in the quarter are Greek Bandosa and Goff. The No. 1 on the board in Qatar is Arina Sampalenka, who awaits one of the two Korne-Samsonova in the 2nd round, while the No. 2, Kreitsikova, meets the winner of the Riske-Linet match.
