Maria Sakkari was named Top Tennis Ambassador at the annual WTA Awards in 2022, taking home the Jerry Diamond ACES Award.

Another great honor for Maria Sakkari. The Greek champion has been named the top ambassador for women’s tennis for the year that is drawing to a close in just a few days.

At the annual WTA Awards, the 27-year-old had all the credit as she appropriated the historic “Jerry Diamond ACES Award” on the return of that honor after three years.

Since 1995, the Jerry Diamond ACES Award has been one of the most important institutions in the WTA Awards and this year Maria Sakkari has joined the very small club of women who have conquered it.

Three years after Kiki Bertens (2019), Maria was named Women’s Tennis Top Ambassador for 2022 on the WTA Tour.

Lindsey Davenport, Martina Hingis, Anastasia Myskina, Caroline Wozniacki and Victoria Azarenka are the five tennis players who have previously won the award twice.

Another 13 tennis players, including Simona Halep, Petra Kvitova, Angelique Kerber, Elina Svitolina and Ana Ivanovic, have also won the Jerry Diamond ACES Award.

In all, along with Sakkari, only 19 female athletes have claimed this special award, which has to do with every female tennis player’s activities and efforts to promote tennis in the world. On and off the courts.
