Novak Djokovic says he can’t wait to compete again at his favorite Grand Slam, the Australian Open, and hopes the Aussies will give him a warm welcome despite what happened in early 2022.

The former No. 1 and current No. 5 in the world rankings ended the year on a high note, winning the ATP Finals title for the 6th time in his career and after this year’s adventure is hoping for a full year on the ATP Tour, the path of the want to continue GOAT.

These days, Nole is attending the unofficial World Tennis League tournament in Dubai and spoke to reporters about his belief that Australians would give him a warm welcome to Melbourne.

“I always demand the best of myself, so let’s see. Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to start strong in Australia and I love playing there. After what happened earlier this year I’m hoping to get a good reception there and hopefully that will help me play good tennis again.” said the 35-year-old Serb.

In his other statements on Eurosport, Djokovic referred to this year, how it started and how it ended with the triumph in Turin.

“Obviously the finish was very satisfying and enjoyable when I think back to what happened throughout the year and especially at the start in Australia. So this win was all the more important after everything my team and family have been through. I have never felt alone. I felt great support from the people, from the Serbs and from everyone.

“It was only a matter of time before I regained my balance and momentum in my game so I could start playing my best tennis again. That happened in the middle of the year, when I also won Wimbledon. After that I only lost one game. It was an incredible finish and I couldn’t have imagined a better scenario.”
