Apostolos Tsitsipas: “Let’s make Greece proud and lift the trophy”

Apostolos Tsitsipas sent his own message in the run-up to the newly founded United Cup, which will celebrate its premiere next Thursday (December 29).

Stefanos Tsitsipas’ father and coach expressed optimism about the Greek team’s course, writing in his post:

“Ladies and gentlemen,

It is my honor to stand before you today and announce that the Greek team will proudly represent our country at the United Cup 2022.

For those who may not be familiar with the United Cup, it is a prestigious international tennis tournament that brings together some of the best teams from around the world.

We’re excited to compete against some of the best teams in the world this year and show the world what Team Greece is made of.

But we don’t just fight for ourselves. We fight for our country, for our families and for everyone who has supported us on our way. We are determined to make Greece proud and bring the trophy home.

I know the road to victory won’t be easy, but I have full confidence in the skill and determination of our players. They’ve worked hard to get to this point and I have no doubt they’ll give their all in this game.

So let’s all get together and support our United Cup 2022 team. Together we can make history and bring gold to our country.”

The first official event of the new season will take place between December 29th and January 8th with the Greek team consisting of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Michalis Pervolarakis, Stefanos Sakellaridis, Petros Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari, Despina Papamichail, Valentini Grammatikopoulou and Sappho Sakellaridis.

Greece leads Group A, which also includes Bulgaria and Belgium. The premiere will take place next Thursday (29/12) at 06:00 GR vs Bulgaria, with Papamikhail meeting Sinikova while Stefanos Tsitsipas will face Grigor Dimitrov about two hours later.
