Kyrgios retired from the United Cup, the Aussies up and down
Nick Kyrgios has withdrawn from the United Cup as he continues to struggle with the ankle injury sustained at last week’s Showpiece tournament in Dubai.
Nick Kyrgios (No. 22) will not compete United Cup, the for the first time a newly formed mixed tournament co-hosted by the ATP and WTA as she struggles with her ankle injury sustained at the Showpiece tournament in Dubai last week.
In fact, the Australian team was informed about the 27-year-old’s retirement about 10 minutes before the press conference. Team captain Samantha Stosur confirmed that she had not been informed of his decision by Kyrgios.
“I’m not going to talk about Nick’s summer. It’s his choice and we have to let him do it.” said the Australian tennis player.
“We have a really good team and we’re going to go out there and do our best,” Alley de Minor said, not wanting to focus on Kyrgios either.
Australia is in Group 4 (Perth) along with Spain and Great Britain.
