Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari defeated Topalova and Andreev in 2-0 sets to make Greece 4-1 against Bulgaria.

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari put the icing on the cake of the series of encounters with Bulgaria for Group 1 of the United Cup, with the Greek duo also winning 6-4, 6-4 in 74 minutes by Topalova/Andreev, who took the place of Tomova/Dimitrov, who did not start.

Both the first and second sets were similar, with the Greek duo making excellent starts but struggling to finish sets at the end.

The Greek duo took a 3-0 lead after ‘breaking’ their opponent’s serve, who, however, took back one of the two lost serves, reducing it to 3-1. In the very next game, Tsitsipas and Sakkaris made a new break and then made it 5-1 with a loose hold.

From there, a minor blackout by the Greek side gave the Bulgarian duo an opportunity to reduce to 5-4 and clear three set points at once, but Sakkaris and Tsitsipas ended the set with a love game immediately afterwards.

The second set was a little shaky as a result, with the Greek duo taking a 5-1 lead again after two breaks, while Topalova and Andreev remained 5-4 again after saving two match points.

But as in the 1st, so in the 2nd set, Tsitsipas and Sakkaris achieved victory in the 10th game with a love match, achieving victory and the Greek team 4-1 against Bulgaria.

With this game the games between Greece and Bulgaria were completed. Next opponents are Belgium, who face the Greek side in a two-day 2-3/1, aiming to finish first in the group and qualify for the cities final.
