Doctors have diagnosed 18-time Grand Slam singles winner Martina Navratilova with throat and breast cancer.

In November, Navratilova, 66, was examined for an enlarged lymph node in her neck. Additional tests revealed she had breast cancer. A representative of Navratilova added that both diseases are at an early stage.

— This double blow is serious, but still reparable. I hope for a favorable outcome. I will fight with all my might,” said the ex-tennis player, who defeated breast cancer 13 years ago thanks to a course of radiation therapy.

Navratilova has won 59 Grand Slams in singles, doubles and mixed doubles. She is second in the number of weeks at the top of the world rankings (332), second only to Germany’s Steffi Graf (377). In the 1970s, Navratilova emigrated from Czechoslovakia to the United States.
