ATP ranking leader Alcaraz to miss Australian Open 2023

World ranking leader Carlos Alcaraz is forced to withdraw from the upcoming Australian Open. The Spanish tennis player via social networks said that due to injury he will miss the Grand Slam tournament.
— I got injured due to an accidental unnatural movement in training. This time it’s the semimembranosus of the right leg. Unfortunately, I will not be able to play at the Australian Open. I need to continue to be optimistic, recover and look ahead,” wrote Alcaraz.
The 19-year-old has won six ATP Tour singles titles, including the 2022 US Open and two Masters 1000 titles.
Australian Open – 2023 is scheduled from 16 to 29 January.
