DOHA, Qatar – Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko (13th in the world) won her seventh consecutive victory on Tuesday by defeating American Amanda Anisimova (40th in the world) in the second round of the WTA tournament in Doha.

After an easy victory over France’s Océane Dodin (93rd in the world) in the first round on Monday (6-4, 6-2), Ostapenko, 24, needed three sets to beat the Roland-Garros 2019 semifinal: 6- 3, 4-6, 6-4.

In the third round, the number 15 of the Qatar tournament will face the Czech No. 2, Barbora Krejcikova.

Winner of Roland-Garros in 2017, Ostapenko won the sixth title of her career at the Dubai tournament last Sunday against Russian Veronika Kudermetova.
