New US guidelines on foreign travel restrictions prevent Novak Djokovic from traveling to America for the first two Masters of the new year.

The US has extended its travel guidelines through April 10, 2023, meaning no non-US travelers can enter the country without vaccination.

That means Novak Djokovic will miss this year’s two major tournaments in Indian Wells (8-19 March) and Miami (22/03-02/04) while he will anxiously await whether travel guidelines will be extended for the remainder of the year , against the background of the US Open (08/28).

“Look, if it’s official, then that’s what it is. I can not do anything. You know my point. I wish I could attend, but if I can’t travel I won’t.” Djokovic told reporters in Adelaide after a hard-fought win over Alice to reach the quarter-finals of the Adelaide International on Thursday.

On Friday, Nole meets Denis Shapovalov for a spot in the semifinals of the first tournament of the year, where he is expected to face Daniil Medvedev in the first major derby of the new season.
