Yannick Siner beat Thanasis Kokkinakis 2-0 in sets at the Adelaide International 1 to advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Yannick Shiner secured his spot in the quarterfinals of the Adelaide International 1 by overcoming resistance from Thanasis Kokkinakis 7-6(2), 6-4 2 hours later.

Shiner broke first before repelling four break points from Kokkinaki to take a 5-3 lead. Kokkinakis reacted immediately, taking back his lost service and reducing it to 5-4. He then leveled at 5-5 with a simple hold.

Kokkinakis had a chance for another break but Shiner’s service once again put him out of a difficult position, erasing a double break point.

The set went into the tiebreak where Shiner dominated as he made it 7/2 and 1-0 with two mini-breaks.

In the second leg of the match, the Italian dramatically improved his service, which was in no way compromised, while on the contrary, he scored the only break of the set (2-1) that he held until the end and clinched the win.

Next, Shiner meets American Sebastian Korda, who in turn defeats Roberto Bautista Agut 6-4, 6-4.
