Sakkari – Trevisan 1-2: defeat in detail for Maria, Italy made it 1-0
Martina Trevisan outstripped Maria Sakkari to win 2-1 to give the United Cup ‘4’ their first win in Italy.
Maria Sakkari could not assert herself against Martina Trevisan because she lost 1:2 sets in the first duel between Greece and Italy in the “4” of the United Cup. A duel that was decided in detail and lasted more than three hours.
It follows the duel between Stefanos Sakellaridis and Lorenzo Musetti. The Italian has the title of favorite in this duel. It is recalled that on Saturday (07.01) the duel between Tsitsipas and Matteo Berettini will be played, which is at the same time the long-awaited derby of the semi-final series.
The match
Trevisan played a very good first set and easily managed to prevail against the Greek champions. The 29-year-old Italian tennis player made it 2-0 with “Guten Morgen” in Sakkari’s first service game, Maria got her blood back in the fourth game and equalized to make it 2-2.
However, Sakkari still held poorly. Trevisan broke twice and ended up winning 6-3.
In the second set, Sakkari improved her performance and even managed to win the set in the tiebreak. The Italian also started the second set with a break on Maria’s serve, but managed the break in the seventh game (4:3) and finally celebrated the set victory (7:4).
The great battle between the two athletes continued in the third set where Martina Trevisan prevailed 7-5.
