(Adelaide) Fifth seed Daria Kasatkina beat two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova 6-3, 7-6(5) in the quarterfinals of the Adelaide International tournament on Thursday.
Paula Badosa also moved into the semi-finals and will face Kasatkina after ousting Beatriz Haddad Maia 7-6 (5), 7-5. Badosa is the ninth seed.
Kasatkina has won two of her previous three matches against the Spaniard.
Kasatkina said she was happy with her victory — her first against Kvitova. They faced each other on clay in 2018, and Kvitova beat them 6-4. 6-0.
