Tsitsipas: He will compete as No. 3 on the board at the Australian Open
Carlos Alcarath’s withdrawal from the Australian Open allows Stefanos Tsitsipas to earn another spot on the board of the tournament in which he will be ranked 3rd.
The Greek team ended their excellent presence in the United Cup in the semi-finals and with it Stefanos Tsitsipas also ended in the tournament.
The Greek tennis player put in an excellent performance and went unbeaten in the tournament, reducing his gap to Casper Rudd to 5 points.
The Norwegian will compete at the Auckland tournament, but that doesn’t affect his placement in the Australian Open rankings. The draw will take place next Thursday (December 1st) and is based on the score from Monday (September 1st).
Stefanos Tsitsipas is fourth in the world rankings, but he will enter the table of the first Grand Slam of the year as No. 3 due to Carlos Alcarath’s withdrawal.
This development also favors Novak Djokovic, who is ranked 4th. What does that mean practically? What Nadal, Rudd, Tsitsipas and Djokovic don’t see before the semifinals. Note that if Alkarath didn’t retire, Nole would be a possible obstacle to the other three in the quarterfinals.
Of course, all this can mean a lot, but nothing, because there are many dangerous opponents for all athletes until we reach the semifinals.
