TSURENKO at the AO draw: “Unbelievable, but I’m not playing the first racket”

Ukrainian tennis player Lesya Tsurenko He commented on the successful qualifying at the Australian Open and the future match with Czech Karolina Muchova in the main draw.

“This qualification has been really good – I played 6 sets in three games. At the same time it was possible to avoid playing in difficult weather conditions. It was a little hot yesterday in the second set, but that’s it. The weather was comfortable today and I played a kind of late start on the first day, so I was very comfortable.

All rivals, let’s say, were understandable to me. Today’s girl played interesting, variable tennis, but I also managed to fit in every rally with my footwork and my own practice. I also remained calm all the time. I saw him expressing some of his feelings after almost every draw, shouting something to the team. The main thing for me was to stay mentally stable.

Unbelievable, but true – I don’t play with the world’s first racket, and I don’t even play with the fourth. I also had the option to play Caroline Garcia in the first round. The Grid is not bad, all opponents that might theoretically be in my way are not easy.

I saw a few matches of Muchova while she was in Australia in the semi-finals (2021), but as far as I know she’s rarely been playing lately because she either has a series of injuries or is unable to come back. playing form I’m going to peek at some of his recent matches.

I know your style in general, I understand clearly, so I will be ready for the match. The only thing is, I crossed my fingers to play on Monday because they promise 38 degrees on Tuesday, so it won’t be an easy day for the players,” said Tsurenko.

It should be noted that last year Lesya successfully exceeded the qualifications of the majors three times, after which she took the base twice as a rival to the world leader in the first round, and once again – as the fourth racket.
