ZAPOPAN, Mexico – Britain’s Emma Raducanu (12th player in the world) was eliminated from the Open in Guadalajara on Tuesday after retiring due to injury in the third set of her match against Australia’s Daria Saville (610th).

The No. 1 seed won the first set 7-5, before Saville tied the game by winning the second set in the tiebreak 7-6 (4).

In the third set, the Australian led 4-3, but the Briton withdrew with an injury to his left hip.

The match lasted 3 hours and 36 minutes, setting the record for the biggest WTA match of the season.

The winning surprise of the last United States Open, Radukanu, played her first match since being eliminated in the second round of the Australian Open. Reduced by blisters on her right hand, she lost to Montenegro’s Danka Kovinic (98th) 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
