The representative of Russia in the first round in three games lost to Grigor Dimitrov from Bulgaria – 6:7 (3:7), 5:7, 2:6.
Andrei Rublev defeated the Austrian Dominic Thiem in just over two hours. The meeting ended in three parties.
Tennis players played the ninth head-to-head match in their career, in six of which Rublev won.
In the second round, Rublev will play with the winner of the pair Max Purcell (Australia) – Emil Ruusuvuori (Finland).
