Djokovic continues his victorious comeback
(Dubai) Novak Djokovic continued his victorious comeback on Wednesday in Dubai by dismissing Russian Karen Khachanov (26and world) in the second round of the Dubai ATP 500 tournament.
The 34-year-old Serb won in two sets of 6-3, 7-6 (7/2) in 1 h 37 min in Dubai, where he is back to defend his place as world number 1, threatened by the Russian Daniil Medvedev.
The Serbian champion had dismissed Italian Lorenzo Musetti 6-3, 6-3 in the first round on Monday for his first match since his expulsion on January 16 from Australia, where he could not defend his title.
In January, his participation in Melbourne was canceled after a long standoff with the Australian authorities, because he was not vaccinated against the coronavirus.
In Dubai, the world number 1 can participate in the tournament, because no vaccine against the coronavirus is compulsory to enter the territory of the Emirates.
The Serb will face in the quarterfinals the winner of the match scheduled for Wednesday between the Spaniard Roberto Bautista (15and) and the Czech Jiri Vesely (123and).
