Tsitsipas meets Hijikata in the second round of the Australian Open
The Australian with Japanese roots, Rinki Hijikata, meets Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second round of the Australian Open, the two tennis players face each other for the first time.
Stefanos Tsitsipas met his opponent in the second round of the Australian Open. That will be Japanese-born Australia’s Rinki Hijikata (#169) causing a stir experienced Yannick Hanfmann (No. 128) from Germany. Hijikata prevailed in 3-2 sets (4-6, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(5), 6-3).
It is Hijikata’s first time advancing to the second round of a Grand Slam while it is only his second appearance in a Major, while the scheduled match will see him face off against the Greek tennis player for the first time Wednesday (18.1.).
